I made impressions of my prostrate body alongside a stream in a Baltimore City park until the soil at the location was washed away, each time leaving something no longer needed behind and saying a gatha to try to become present:
I breathe in and know I’m breathing in. I breathe out and know and I’m breathing out.
I breathe in calm. I breathe out smile.
I breathe in present moment. I breathe out precious moment.
I present photographic documentation of the changes that the elements, animals and other humans make in the impressions and I offer viewers an installation in which they can make their own impression, expression of grief or joy in sand, altering the work with their touch and intention. I hope to document the changes in the work and present this as a video.
